My HO scale Finger Lakes Railway layout. Approximately 16 mile leg from the Himrod NY yard to Watkins Glen NY. We run to Watkins Glen to service the salt companies, and return to the yard a couple times a week. Waiting for my custom-detailed FGLK locos to arrive. In the mean time we are running leased NS power. ol%20bus.jpg

Working on my 2nd layout, The FGLK Watkins Glen Line. Started modeling about 5 years ago at the age of 60.

HO scale, 10' x 20', ME Code 70 Track, modern era, DCC Digitrax Zephyr, ProtoThrottle.

Thanks! That's Leon on the mower. Jack of all trades, master of none.

Salt mines

Looks nice!  That’s an interesting area, and the salt mines are an interesting industry to model.  Nice to see someone modelling some of the FGLK.

Leon on the mower.

Interesting scene, give us a bit more of this story. Is it winter evening with the bus coming home near dark? or early morn? do they mow the lawns up there in winter? or do the busses run late in summer :> )   and what's holding that flag up over the engine, I can't figure out it's support? .....DaveB

Track Plan

Do you have a Track Plan? Would like to see more. The photo could be late summer, end of August or early fall, September either early am and the bus is getting a start on it's route; some parts school starts in August, while others start in September. Or it could be early evening and the bus is coming back from a high school function like a football game. I've seen grass being cut as late as November.

Good choice....

Had a cab ride Himrod to Watkins Glen and back some years ago (5? Not sure...). Speed limit was 7 MPH due to track conditions. You may / probably know this....Food grade salt was shipped in “green dot” hoppers. adds to switching requirements

nice work
