Extra 2200 South issue #86

The locomotive news magazine Extra 2200 South published an all-time Maine Central loco roster in issue #86, printed in 1987.

1980 was a significant year for the MEC's roster because they  bought some L&N Geeps and chopnosed them, and then they bought about a dozen U25Bs from the Rock Island.  Must have been real cheap.  Issue #71 had the first overhauled/repainted one on its cover, saying it had been put in service in August 1980.

Do you know if issue #86 had info on disposition. I am really trying to track down exactly what units were on property that year.

Rumford ME

A major LDE will be the paper mill at Rumford. 

I have been doing some research on the facility, it appears to have a dumper shed for hoppers. What I would suspect is this is for fuel for the boiler house. Does anybody know if this was coal fired or chip fired?
