My old avatar image is an eye. Just the eye. I have a new one of an eye peering through a boxcar. It's 85x85 pixels, exactly, in jpg format, 12k on disk, less than 10k data.

I click on My Account, then the Edit tab. I check 'delete current image', type my password, click the 'save' button at the bottom, and the eye image goes away.

I click on choose new image, select the new image on my disk, and the name is shown to the right of the choose image button. Nothing else happens. The button doesn't change to 'upload image'. I retype my password, click the 'save' button at the bottom, and the supposedly deleted old eye avatar comes back.

I am *most definitely not* re-uploading the old image by mistake. My file chooser is showing image previews so I know I'm getting the right file, plus the file name is what it's supposed to be.

Couple things

First what browser are you using and what kind of computer is this ... Mac, Windows PC, tablet, what? Second, when you update your avatar, it won't appear to change. Yet the rest of us will see your new avatar. What's happening is your browser has cached your image locally and doesn't realize you changed it back on the web server. This catches all beginner web developers because they forget to flush the local cache when they make changes on a web server. So once you have updated your avatar, you need to flush your local browser cache to see the update. Google the name of your browser and the words clear cache to see how to do it if you don't know how. For example, if you're using Firefox, type this into Google: firefox clear cache

Thanks

Thanks Joe,

I'm using Opera under Windows 10. Sadly, Opera doesn't allow site-specific clearing, I'd have to clear all site data for all sites, something I'm not willing to do to fix this problem as it would have various impacts on my other activities.

So I'll just have to live with the brokenness of MRH.

Hang on there, I don't think you understand. I'm talking about JUST deleting cached images, which should not be a big deal at all. So what if some images need to be reloaded, no biggie.

Watch the video and see how it's done. JUST SELECT CACHED IMAGES AND DATA for the last 24 hours -- that should do the trick.

It's not the wipe out all history for all time big scarey thing you seem to be thinking.

OK, Thanks

That did do the trick. I figured that since I'd had the image for months, I'd have to clear backwards for months to clear it.
