Hello. On the picture below you can see different configurations of rail yards. All configurations, except first one, provides sidings of almost the same lengths.

Interesting investigation of staging-yard design,
do we assume these diagrams are from a russian prototype document of some kind?
(would love to know more).

Also, FWIW, it could be interestig to compare and contrast these ideas against a model-railroad staging-yard question from a few years ago...

Yes, this diagrams are from russian book. The book is "Railway stations and junctions" from Broitman.
