My plan is to paint and weather one of the red MKT GP7s as it would have appeared around 1975.  Yes, the Katy began painting their locomotives green with yellow stripes in the early seventies, but there were still some red ones around that hadn't made it to the paint shop.  Great photos of them can be found if you search the web.

Even though I plan on  fairly heavy weathering, I'd like to start with a red paint color that is close to the red paint the Katy used on its locos (known as Barriger Red?) between 1965-1971.  This is a deeper red than the Deramus red used in an earlier era.

Has anyone had experience with one of the Modelflex or True Color reds that they feel comes closest to "Barriger Red"?  It's so tough to accurately select paint colors from a computer monitor.  I'm hoping to avoid purchasing multiple bottles just to find one that seems to come close.
