A little progress on my layout..

I have finally raised the level of my water base in an attempt to mitigate what I felt was excessive height of my causeway and excessive distance between my bridge and the river. I think it helped. Below are some pics of the scene as well as a casting I made of a Chooch bridge abutment that has been cut down a bit in height.

I applied some masking tape to get a feel for the form of the land after the plaster is on. I am mostly happy with it. The cardboard strip is there to give a feel of the bridge.

I think if I am creative with some talus around the edges I can make it look reasonable. I would prefer that the abutment stretched the entire distance of the causeway but I don't think I can make that happen without carving my own.

I have made some more progress on my spray booth. My light is a regular shop "clamp light" that has a 100 watt CFL in it. The lamp has the same 6500K color temp as the lights on my layout. The final version will be raised very slightly over the plexiglass.

Thanks Joe, I appreciate the encouragement. Posting here keeps me moving.

I am really looking forward to finishing up the paint booth so I can devote more time to "slinging plaster". I want to have the booth finished before too long though.. its gonna be too cold out to spray outside soon!

Heck.. gonna be too cold to spray in the basement too! Maybe I need a heater for the booth!

If you put a 60 watt+ tungsten bulb in that reflector, you won't need a heater for the booth!

I would sure need to replace the plexiglass with real glass!

Losing my perfect "layout color temp" might be well worth keeping my fingers from turning blue.. just have to be careful not to spray solvents!! I dont want my name in the part of the newspaper where they talk about the stupid things people did the day before..
