Given that we're probably looking at maybe several months with no travel, that will have some implications for MRH and TrainMasters TV. I usually do a layout tours road trip in May and get at least 5 or so layout stories for last five months of the year. I may not be doing that until things get better, and right now, I'm not sure when that will be. Second, TMTV depends on outside guests coming into the studio for segments, and come the summer, we may be getting very shy of new segments if we can't get guests. Given that we're all going to be homebodies for a while, there are things you can do to help. First, write articles! Good articles about doing some building project on the layout, particularly having to do with track, loco tuning, a thorny decoder install that ultimately went well, installing loco lighting, rolling stock projects, building a bridge, building a structure, doing some scenery project like trying to replicate a prototype scene, modeling water ... all of these topics would be great. If we can get good, interesting layout project articles, we can fill the gap until life returns to normal and the MRH staff can all travel again. If you are passionate about a hobby topic and would consider doing a TMTV segment, let me know and we might try to get creative with doing something where nobody has to travel but we still get some good ideas put to video. Of all the leading hobby publishers, though, we're in a pretty good position for not being able to travel. We have a great online community and if we put our heads together, we can take this situation and make some unique new content that will be fun to read and/or watch!

Skype Recording?

I join a group that shares their video feed while working on layout or modeling projects. Why not join some of these groups and mine interesting projects? PM for more and I’ll pose the idea to the group.

Live recording, yes, but I'm looking beyond just that

Certainly, live recordings are an option, but that's only one option. I'm looking for a lot more than that.

And I'm especially looking for a lot of you who are now going to be homebodies for the next while to pony up some articles to fill the lack of road trip layout tours once we run out of layout stories come June or July.

I'm mostly looking for some interesting building projects on the layout to feature the last half of the year.

Hi joe

I follow a bit the decision about which now , we can name a world epidemic.

In Europa in most of the countries, they have  cancelled any show, concert, event, some countries have ask to close restaurant for 3 weeks.

They have also close schools and university for one month for the most

Travelling  is on the way to be stopped.

Here in Quebec, we are going to go  in the same way, already university are closed, probably schools in the coming days, any event is cancelled.

I see in the US such decision are on the way; all the trains show, for example, seems cancelled.

I believe we can say, the world is going to be in "holydays" for sure one month, may be more.

This impact you like all of us, but we must remember the quality of our health is more much important than any other big or small considerations without any exception.

Let’s keep this thread on more hobby content

Marc, let’s keep this thread on ideas for more hobby content while we’re all staying home, and use other threads to discuss the outside world situation. I’m looking to make the best of it here with MRH and TMTV since we typically depend on traveling to develop content. Being stuck at home is a chance for us all to do the hobby more and to tell about it — and to help others as they keep themselves busy at home. Plus you can help MRH and TMTV keep making content even if we can’t travel for a while.

Is this an idea worth sharing?

Joe, I recently had to tear down my bedroom size layout in preparation for a pending move to a new house with a large basement. But thats been delayed some so I took two of my 2' by 4' modules and created a simple switching layout to keep me busy.

Its not fancy. All hand throws. 6 industries and 18 car spots.

BTW when we finally get to the new basement with a house over it, I will have a 16' by 16' space to build a new layout.
