I have been slowly working on scenery/ballasting from the Morris stock feed lot (shown in previous MRH postings) to the vicinity of the station in Paradigm. This includes a forest scene near the feed lot and roads/sidewalks made from 2 mm thick flexible foam sheets (used by Cosplayers to create armor and other costume accessories). It is very easy to use, takes glue and paint very well, and can be easily cut with an x-acto knife or scissors. The material was purchased from a local fabric store.

Thank You

Hi Filip,

Thank you for your comments.  I had to re-learn scenery since it has been at least 30 years since I have done any.  Ballasting is something new to me and I have been taking my time.

Hi John

Nice scene and video.

I use the foam sheets for roadbed also.  I did an experiment using it vs cork years ago.  Track glued to the cork has already come unglued while track on the foam is still holding fast.  Two layers of the foam exactly matched the height of the cork.  So 2 thicknesses for the mainline and 1 layer for sidings would work well.

Hi and Thanks

Jim,

Sorry that it took so long to reply but I had been sick for for the past three weeks.

Thank you for your comments and the great idea about the foam sheets for track roadbed. I used the 2 mm sheets for roads & sidewalks but I know that they make some that are a lot thicker. The foam sheets are so easy to cut and shape and are fairly inexpensive.
