Hi Guys and ladies

I need some help with the wiring of a booster cable for a Roco z21. I need to know if the two RJ connectors are wired as a cross over, or how the wiring goes from the left to the right RJ connector. I only need about a 12 inch cable and most of the ones for sale are 6 feet or longer.

Thanks

Roco booster in/out

Hi,

are you familiar with google translator? I created detail description in this forum.

Once you are not interested in details, then short description:

pin 1 - half DCC signal (sometimes marked as C from pair C/D)
pins 2 a 3 - common ground (GND)
pin 4 - overload (E) - once connected to ground, track out is overloaded.

For master (command station = z21) pin 1 is out, pin 4 in, for slave (boosters 10765,...) pin 1 is in, pin 4 out.

Extra simple answer - connect pin 1 to pin 1, same as for XpressNet cable.

For dummies - here is some description, how to connect Roco to CDE booster.

Help needed making booster cable

Hello Fulda

Thank You, so when I put the RJ connectors back to back, the wires just run straight across, if I read your explanation correctly.

Made booster cable

Hello Fulda

Thank you for your help, I made the booster cable and it works fine. I am using a Roco z21 Start as my main system, and a Roco 10764 as a booster. I did not modify the 10764.
