This is the time of year in New England and probably most of the USA that we should be harvesting all the free trees Mother Nature has given us. They are free for the picken. I’m no horticulturalist so don’t ask me the names of the weeds shown. I gather them while I’m photographing trains. Some of the best weeds grow along railroad tracks. I also use some of the flowers from the home landscape after they have dried up. A can of spray adhesive and some Woodland scenic foam can make some decent trees quickly. It took about two minutes to make the tree show. The “weed” is on the right and the finished tree on the left. Other materials can be used for different types of trees. These weeds are legal in all 50 states. It’s time to get out there, soon they will be covered in snow.B8EFC50.jpeg

I agree!

I make these each Fall from the Oak Leaf Hydrangea bush in my front yard.  Exact same method.

Sagebrush

That sage brush tree looks fantastic. What are you using for green stuff? It looks finer and more fractal than the woodland scenics foam.

I've used sage brush on my previous layout for trees.

Now I use one to depict a dead tree on my current layout.

Real sage brush or the kind made from paint stripper pads and attached to plants?

Snow is replaced with the risk of just floods and hurricanes.

And alligators, don't forget the alligators. Especially when tramping around in the weeds looking for miniature trees.

I love your trees!  And the rock work too.  Carved plaster?  Molds?  Bragdon's?

Rock Work

Thanks Michael. The rocks are a mixture of Cripplebush Valley rubber rocks and homemade castings made from large chunks of coal !.
