Hi All,

I recently uploaded my monthly layout update on my Seaboard Central channel.  This month I showcase all the new backdrops from Trackside Scenery in an around the room view.  I love these backdrops and this time around my wife and I did a much better job on the installation.  To preserve these backdrops for a future move, I have been mounting them on large .040 styrene sheets I purchased from a local plastics supplier.  Then I mount them to the wall with double-sided tape.  This time around I opted for the non-adhesive backed version of the backdrops and found it much easier to install.  The most important thing is to make sure what you are installing them to is clean, so I first cleaned the styrene sheets with 409 spray.  With the styrene sheets laying on a long table, I first rolled out the backdrop and secured one end to the styrene sheet temporarily with clothespins. Then I rolled the backdrop from the other end back and started securing it with 3M Super 77 spray. At the same time my wife used a wallpaper tool to smooth it out.  Worked out excellent this time with no air bubbles. If you are in the market for photo backdrops I highly recommend checking out Trackside Scenery!

As always, this video includes some operation and featured a new SD40-2 from Scale Trains. I now have two of their Admiral Cab NS SD40-2s and both came equipped with the new L:okSound Version 5 decoder.  They still need to be tweaked and programmed to match my standard function map settings to get the most prototypical results with my rotoThrottle along with a special repaint into the new Seaboard Central Corporate Scheme with light weathering.  They will retain their numbers but be reclassified as rebuilt SD32ECO units.  Once that happens the sound files will need to be updated to 12 cylinder 710 prime movers.

Thanks again for watching and if you are not already a subscriber I would appreciate the sub!

Thanks Guys

Thanks for the compliments guys. As the layout stands today, the scenery is complete and every piece of rolling stock currently on the layout has some degree of weathering.

I hope to start on the peninsula very soon and plan on documenting the entire progress in hopes of producing an article for MRH as these will be treated as TOMA builds. I also have some locomotive projects that I need to complete that should add some more excitement to things as they will receive a special SC paint scheme.

Stay Tuned!

Tim
