Allen H.

Last friday I got the first building close to completion in Fordyce.

This is the new Walthers kit: The Modern Concrete Warehouse that I'm using for the processing and cold storage building for my Flappers Chicken complex.

Appealling roof

I also model in N scale but this also important in the others scale; most of the time we seen structures from above.

Well detailed roof are extremly important and must be eyes catching.

You have done a good job about this.

Very nice work!!. Roof looks

Very nice work!!. Roof looks real nice. For some reason there is always a SOO car in Pictures you post. One thing, the RTU'S (roof top unit). I don't think they would be that rusty,.galvanized steel and paint would prevent most of the rust. But then again I get the idea,,,using weathering to put the scene together. So continue on my n scale brother!! I am Wyatt and I approve this posting.

Thanks Rick.  I may be contacting you again shortly as I'm thinking about trying your method for a concrete or asphalt pad around the warehouse.

Thanks Jack.   I thought about using 600 grit sandpaper or painting it and then working tissue paper into the paint.  But then I found an image that I could print and fit to the roof.

Thanks Dave!  Yeah, I still have a long way to go, but at least this is the first step.

Thanks Wyatt!  Well I have to keep your interest somehow?  Yeah I thought about how rusty they may or may not be?  Maybe these were cheap imported versions?  I'm happy that you approve of this!  At least I'm hoping you're talking about post and not yours?

Very nice - I love the roof!

That's a great looking building.  If you haven't done so already you might want to consider coating the walls with Dullcoat as from the picture it looks like you can see the reflection on the walls of the cars next to the building.  I know.....I'm being picky!

The Shining

Thanks Rick!.

Yup, you're not the first to point that out, one said I should do the same thing and said  "Once seen, I couldn't Unsee it"  and another one said it still looked wet.  I used a Krylon spray bomb that said it was Flat???

I still have some minor details to add to it and another close by building may get the same color, so when I get to that point I'll give everything a good coat of flat or Dull Coat.

That looks very nice Allen! This is the first time I’ve heard of using a photo for a roof. Really a great look!

I’m not saying it’s not, but in my experiments with rolling stock weathering, I’ve never found anything that dries as flat as Testor’s Dullcote.

Roof photo

Great building Allen, especially the roof.

I live in the UK and also model N scale and have just received my order of the same warehouse kit. Is there any chance you would be willing to share the roof photo? - I think it is much better than trying to weather the original plastic roof.

Flat?

Thanks Joe.

And yup, that's exactly what I used to flatten the paint.  I also picked up a can of Krylon Matte spray, but just grabbed the Dull Coat instead.
