So my wife thought that the Railroad should have an official beer glass.

My wife got me a tumbler.

Now that looks cool.

My wife got me a 30 oz. tumbler with the original Credit Valley Railway logo.

As taken off a scan of the 1883 Railway Timetable.

LOL

You couldn't be more correct Bud, she's awesome and has been very supportive of my hobby.

Will that is a very cool cup... where did you get that?

For the rest of you... funny part is I really don't hardly ever drink anymore. The most that glass will likely ever see is iced tea.

Subject Line Change

So... I change the original subject line from Official Beer Glass as I wasn't really sure that it was appropriate for a model railroad forum and also not wanting to put Joe F in a position to have to ask me to change it or to have to change it himself and make this awkward...

Anyhow, so I'm wondering what other promotional items I could create to "promote" the railroad. Good friend of mine had t-shirts made with his logo.

What other items have any of you seen made with someones model RR on it?

A real keeper

A real keeper for sure Ben.  Your wife I mean.  And the glass is super cool too!

When flying back from business dealings in Boston in May, some co-workers and I stopped for a bite in an airport restaurant.  I couldn't resist celebrating a week of successful meetings with a glass of this:

Not Mike C.'s, I know, but it's handy when the brewery does the work for us!

I won't share the IAIS items I've gathered over the years since it's cheating to include promotional material from a prototype road , but there have been some fun ones.  My wife knows that gifts from the IAIS company store are always favorites, so I've been blessed with several company clothing items as Christmas and birthday gifts.  Many years ago, a retiring employee gave...GAVE!...me his entire stash of IAIS paraphenalia, including a coat, timetables, and several other items, including one of my favorites...a really nice travel bag that I still use on just about every trip.

Will, that tumbler looks great too!

I had made up....

I had made up golf shirts and T-shirts of my railroad for a couple of my senior operators. I sent the art to Aramark, picked out the shirts and had them ade up. They have so many promos, I was paying under $15 a t-shirt which included the stitched logo, shirt itself and shipping! Their clothing, made for workers holds up very well.

IAIS

Joe... please share away... will still give some good ideas. Heck, I think you've done more to promote the IAIS railroad then they have... LOL

Also, I here you about Mike's Allagash RR, I just can't get enough of it. I used the same font he does for my roadname and found a similar green with a 50/50 mix of BN Green & BNSF Green that I liked.

Some of my other all time favorites that jump to my mind without thinking about is your Railroad, Mike Canfalone's Allagash, Tom Pattersons' Chesapeake Wheeling & Erie, Rob Spangler's Western Pacific and Tom Johnson's Inrail RR just off the very top of my head...

Pencils

I once ordered a set of pencils with the railroad name I was using at the time - Virginia and Lake Erie RR.

Hydroflask

I second the idea of contacting RSLaserKits - he has the same type of laser as the guy locally who did this for me:

I had him do an MRH one for Joe as well, so hopefully Joe can snap a photo of it and post it.

For my railroad

I had some polo shirts made that included the Southern New England red wafer logo. I got a bunch of them for my operating crew at the same time. Worst part of the shirts was keeping track of everyone's sizes etc... !

I think I wore one in a very early TMT video - that would have been close to 8 or 9 years ago and the shirts have held up pretty well. But I really should get something else made - a glass is a pretty good idea. And one size fits all!

Been wanting to do this

Jeff, that W&W tumbler/mug is great, you could easily fool someone into thinking that is a real G&W subsidiary's employee giveaway item!

For those in a hurry, you can do one of these: https://www.inkpixi.com/hobbies/model-railroad

As for myself, I used to be a graphic designer and illustrator, before everything went to computer graphics. I could do my own t-shirts and such easily the old fashioned way, and I really should eventually. My problem is I model a fictional branch line of a real railroad, so creating my own logo wouldn't make much sense.

But as for glasses, I've not been a drinker since I left the military (and really, not even then, I stopped drinking when I turned 21 for the most part) and I have a bunch of beer mugs and glasses from over the years that never get used...

When I first started having

When I first started having ops sessions and tours in Florida (with a long-gone layout) I was living in an apartment. To make it easier to find my place, I came up with the idea of a "corporate flag". I made it from an old sheet and permanent art markers. It lives on in my avatar here. I printed it on paper, then traced it through the fabric. I used zip ties to attach the pole to the step railing when I was open.

River Mountain Railroad

I live in Henderson, NV, a suburb of Las Vegas. I'm a stone's throw from Railroad Pass, the transition from the Las Vegas Valley to Boulder City, home of the Hoover Dam. The area we live in is called River Mountain. So, I named my fictitious layout the River Mountain Model Railroad.

A few years ago for Christmas, my wife ordered a custom made sign from an internet company for my railroad. It measures 36 inches left to right. I mounted it on some pallet wood and hung it on the wall. Oh, the company who made the sign, after delivery, called my wife to ensure it made it OK and it met her standards.

I'll be keeping an eye out for the shirts, Joe. At Winterail, the White River guys were walking around with hoodies for their company and I heard several people asking where they could buy something like that. From the reactions, I don't think the WR guys realized that meant there was a market for such things.

MR put out some promo stuff but frankly, most of it was pretty lame. A t-shirt with Jim Hediger's face? Who the heck would want that?

MRH has plenty of fans, of which I include myself. Yeah, if a MRH t-shirt is made available and is well done (as in, well designed and doesn't look like 'foamer wear'), sure, I'd buy one!

A&EV

We had A&EV glasses made to give with the R&S glasses at the last business meeting (operating session). Trying to win over the A&EV to route more traffic over the A&EV - R&S interchanges
