I'm investigating logging subjects to help with developing a logging scene on my new layout. I ran across this book source that goes WAY BEYOND the info I need, but it is a very significant resource.

....a very comprehensive book about Timber,...and its a free download

I included this quote in that original posting I made up above, and on several other forums. It linked to a very extensive discussion of logging subjects (79 pages).

My thought was that it gave credit to the fellow who discovered and posted the manner to get the free download via a PDF. And it offered a link to LOTS of other logging discussions.

I was chastised (and threatened with being banned) for posting such a link over on that 'other' forum. I think I am just going to have to give up on that myopic forum, even though their members have provided me with lots of good advice/discussions.

BTW, what are the exact steps to take to download that book? I could not determine it from the link webpage it took me to ?     (my computer skills are often limited)

Download method

When I attempted to download directly as a PDF, it did not work properly. Since the file consists of page images, rather than text, it is quite large - 20.3 Megabytes. What I did is open the PDF in the web browser with the PDF viewer which is automatically used in my version of Firefox. From there, the app in Firefox provides an icon to download the PDF, so I used that. (Book was published in 1922, so things may be done differently today)

What does that icon look like? When I pass my cursor over the few icons I see there it does not say what they are? I'm also using Firefox.

Download icon

I do know of that icon for downloading, but I did not see it on this page,..

https://books.google.com/books?id=Z1QDAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA171&lpg=PA172&ots=6u7XlPKHD0&dq=Sawmilling+Bryant&hl=en#v=onepage&q=Sawmilling%20Bryant&f=false

But eventually I went to that little toothed wheel icon on the far right, and looked at the subheadings it offered,...found one that said download PDF.

You have to be a magician to figure out some of these icons these days

Something is not behaving well. The EBOOK - FREE button is no labeled READ NOW.

This is what I did to get the PD, first clicked on the EBOOK - FREE button, the selected the PDF to the right of the "Download" text as:

img.jpeg

[attach:fileid=397085_12_/hR+9/57v+S/4UAf/9k=]

Upon clicking on the "PDF" in blue on the bottom of the mage, it will open the document in the browser PDF reader. From there use the PDF reader download icon.

If you click on the READ EBOOK button, then you may need to be real fast selecting the "PDF" in blue or it will change to the other reader function Google Play.

I hope this helps you.
