What type of internal "land line" phone system do I need to look for if I want to have 5 phones around the layout that can privately reach the disbatcher in his office.

I want a system so each train crews can pick up a phone at their location and either call the disbatchers office  without the other phones located around the layout being able to pick up and interupt the call.

I have seen this used at club layouts but I have never set up this kind of phone system. heck I dont even know the proper term for the system.

or if you have suggestions for a better system let me know

Thank you

I have dealt with that

I have dealt with that company and if you have any questions give them a call and they will walk you through any questions.  Very nice person to deal with.  Also a friends layout uses them and it works very well.

Search of MRH

There was a thread a while back that has a few different links to phone systems:

So you want a private phone system to communicate on your railroad - Mike Deverell, Colorado Front Range

And a thread on the old scissor phone, so it is hands free - this is for period operations around 1940.

Scissor Phone - Doug Meyer

Also if you are wanting old style rotary phones check out:

Old style phones - Doug Meyer

All the above was found by typing phone system in the MRH search box on the upper right of the Web page, searching is your friend.

Using VOIP Boxes to create phone system

One possible solution is to use VOIP Boxes

See the links below.

Currently using 2 boxes to create a 4 line exchange as a house phone system.

Mike Deverell's Colorado Front Range has

the same system you are asking about.  Mike has an ongoing U-tube series on his layout so you can go back a year or more and find the program when he explains his system

Re: Mike Deverell's CFR

Since the first link I shared is to Mike Deverell's post here about his system which has the links to the youtube videos, I went back and edited my post to include the author of the threads to let people know who did them.

Telephones with Remote Dispatcher Option?

I am interested in a telephone system similar to what MRCS has available on their website. However, I'd like the dispatcher function to be run through the same PC as the JMRI dispatcher panel. Ideally, the dispatcher would activate a key on the JMRI dispatcher panel to use the telephone system. In addition, I'd like the capability of an off-site dispatcher to log in remotely via VPN and have reciprocal audio through the VPN between the telephone system and the remote dispatcher. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I've achieved some of this functionality with a Family Radio System with voice activation, but ideally I'd like to model a more accurate telephone-style system for my 1970's train order operations.

at one time not so long back,

at one time not so long back, there were these cell phones that also doubled as walkie talkies.

might be able to get them cheep. and just convert to a dedicated "cell" for usage off the pay systems.
