As seen in the picture, this is an OLD controller.

The keyboard layout is different for almost all NCE controllers, as a result NCE no longer has the membrane keyboard and mine has not been working for quite awhile, but the other one purchased at the same time (March, 1999) is fine. After a couple of email episodes with NCE and trying their suggestions of washing the membrane with soap and water and cleaning the PCB with alcohol, nothing seemed to help.

I decided to try something else. The membrane has a black contact that is pressed down onto the PCB and completes the circuit on board. I figured their must be some kind of coating that had accumulated over the years and tried using an ordinary pencil eraser and cleaning each one that way. And it worked!!!! The controller now works fine again and definitely at less cost than new one!

Figured I would share it in case others have a similar problem.
