This is my next Work-In-Progress, VIA Rails F40PH-2. A natural progression after completing the VIA Rail Home Hardware version.

This was the original configuration of the engine purchased by VIA Rail, with small Canadian flag. I am using a Kato engine, with custom modifications to better represent the appearance of the VIA equipment.

After stripping the Amtrak paint from the shell, I removed and filled in most of the forward roof details.

The entire shell was given a coat of Proto Paint VIA Grey.

Using drawings and prototype photos I masked the nose and forward sides of the shell.

A coat Of VIA Yellow has been applied to the nose.

Progress has temporarily stopped here as I return to work for five shifts. On my next days off I will paint the roof and top of the nose black and after a gloss coat, start the decals.

Will keep you posted!

What yellow paint are you using?

Looking good!  What yellow paint are you using?  Did you need to apply multiple coats?

I used Rapido trains CN/VIA

I used Rapido trains CN/VIA Yellow for the nose and VIA Grey for the body. Both are acrylic and sprayed nicely in several light coats after diluting. The top, is Testers flat black, also diluted.
