Instead of an O scale test track, why not make a small switching layout above my work surface!

Location, Track Module and Industry

It's only 10 inches between the bottom of the HO scale shelf and the top of the new location for the O scale test track. However, the height is perfect for viewing from my desk chair and the reach to the turnouts is acceptable.

I liked the track only module approach I did on the HO scale "Time Saver", I will follow the same approach for these O scale modules.

The industry can be added after the track module is completed on a separate module. I was initially considering a concrete grain silo, however, maybe Pulp and Paper might make a better mix of traffic.

If this works out I plan to connect the area to rest of the layout with a removable bridge. If it doesn't work, I will use the track modules elsewhere and place a single test track above my work area.
