Hello fellow modelers!

I would like to present my version of Wolfgang Kufer DCC decoder v1.2.

As soon I started to wire my layout with DCC a question arose - what manufacturer to use? My choice was the Dutch manufacturer Digikeijs which has easy to mount small enclosures and with rich features. Along side I was using a few boards with different designs from different sources. The question was how to make all of them more uniformed and the decision was make my own boards fit into Digikeijs enclosures. All SMD elements is big enough to solder with iron.

Here is the result:

On my board I used push-in connectors but pitch is standard 2.54mm and can accept screw terminals.

If anybody is interested I am publishing slightly modified from original Wolfgang Kufer schematics. I don't have space in my DropBox so the board file I can send to anyone who wants to repeat my design. All programming files can be downloaded from OpenDCC.de website.

I want to say huge thank you to Wolfgang Kufer for his help and permission to publish my variant of design. And also Geoff Bunza for his peice of schematic which is working very good

That is all folks.

Best regards.

Sergey

P.S. PCB file is here

PCB ordered from here. $5 for 10 pcbs.

Fantastic

What a clean looking design. The surface mounted components fastinate me and I have been collecting various examples to try but am facing the learning curve of board design. What is the size of your finished decoder?

Thank you for sharing!

3” x 3-1/4”

Sorry, I still think in Imperial measurements. This should fit in an On30 tender but, if I remember Geoff’s series, this is a stationary decoder?  I’ve wondering if these boards could be used in passenger cars or caboose to control lights and/or animation. Has anyone tried to consist these boards to work together?

Thanks again.

Decoder type

Hi

Decoder in my article is Accessory decoder for layout. For the function decoder I have a different article and size for those one is 5"X0.386". Here is link http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/31261 and it is based on Geoff design. And can be programmed with same code as Arduino Mini Pro board.

Best regards.

@Sergey Another beautiful Layout

Hi Sergey,

You have a way of building elegant decoders! This is really well done.

You make my construction techniques look primitive!  This is a beautiful job and inspiring as well.

Have fun!

Geoff Bunza

Thanks for sharing

Sergey,

Thanks for sharing this, two thoughts if I may.

1) You should be able upload the board file here and post a link to it, click the link button on the editor, upload the file to sever and it put the link in the post.

2) Edit your original post and set the image size for the schematic, right click the image and select image properties then set the width to 750 so it fits in the forum. The larger image will still be available by clicking on the "reduced" image.
