I noticed that the straightline speed curve that is stock on Tsunami2/Econami decoders is not the most optimized for low speed settings with Genesis/RTR Athearn locomotives. After using the "Switching Speed" function in the Tsunami2, I felt the decoder was more capable of finer low speed control then was initially available OOTB. The trick wasn't to use the 3 point speed curve, but to enable the 28 point speed table and shift the mid values closer to the top of the speed curve making a shallow curve on the low end and a sharper curve towards the top speeds.

A file exists as a JMRI CSV "Eco+Tsu2 Speed Curve.CSV" that one can download as a "preset" and deploy via JMRI. This is really intended for utilizing DecoderPro in JMRI. Yes, you can look at each CSV file in excel and manually plug in each CV/Value through your throttle. It may be a bit cumbersome that way but it will work.

The Equalizer CSV is really intended for Athearn OOTB F59PHI and GP15 Diesels.

Using the File> Import in DecoderPro is the preferred method as it is very fast to load the group of CVs all at once.

How to use the presets (assuming you have a working DecoderPro installation and have successfully edited decoder CVs before):

  1. First, download the file you want to try located here: http://trainweb.org/mavmrrdigest/SoundTraxxPreSets/
  2. Next press the  " + New Loco" button on top left or open an existing locomotive profile in the list box
  3. Once the new window is open, click on the "Speed Table" tab if you are going to try out the "Eco+Tsu2_Speed Curve.csv" or click on the "Equalizer" tab if you are going to try out the "Eco+Tsu2_Equalizer.csv"
  4. Go to "File> Import> CSV File..."
  5. In the "Open" File requester, locate to where you downloaded the .CSV files. sometimes they will automatically download to the "Downloads" folder.
  6. Click "Open"
  7. The corresponding fields should turn orange Now press "Write changes on sheet" button and this will apply the new values to the decoder.
