I think....

...someone may think this nothing more than a deceptive ploy to direct people to a on-line hobby store front.

You can take down your own blog entries

Az, you can take down your own blog entries -- just select edit, then check "Mark this post as private". Only you will see it after that. It will be unpublished for everyone else. If you later change your mind, you can uncheck the box to republish it. Then if you truly want a blog thread deleted, after making it private, you can request the moderators get involved and do a wholesale delete.

Except what is on the linked page is exactly what was descibed.  So it's part of an online store?  Don't buy anything from them. Problem solved.

Rather interesting -

My recommendation is to leave it up - there is nothing for sale on that page itself, and it appears that it could be a useful reference for weathering (or just admiration).

The hobby shop that owns the website may be sponsoring the contest, but that's something that should be admired in my book - they've come up with a tasteful method of marketing that is actually pretty low-key as far as the marketing goes.

The value outweighs the fact it's part of a commercial site in my eyes.

Encouraging you to look at the photos and vote.

These fellows have done a significant amount of work on the weathering, and in creating the videos that show their work techniques.  Ron, Eric and the Sponsoring hobby shop should be congratulated for setting this up.

I think a great way to show appreciation for the work would be to vote for the "popular choice" category.
