BOK - Barry inspired me to start building a tool/oil shed to go along my TT's track.

For now I have a cardboard mockup until I decide on how to make one.

In the meantime, I'll have to design a mound/foundation and scenery for it to go on.

Happy to be of assistance,

Happy to be of assistance, Deem. I hope it helps in your modeling.

Looking at your building mock up I was thinking it might be a bit more rectangular with a large door for bringing in supplies and smaller personnel door along with a window or two to provide light. These weren't especially spacious but they did cover all the bases and considering it is a CN building ...probably, pretty, well,maintained/painted. Speaking of lighting there might also be a goose neck light over the personnel door for night safety.

When you or other modelers ask a question I just search back over my years as a railroader and see if I have anything to offer as far as information or clarification. Often it stirs a memory of something I did or saw.

It's nice to be appreciated for what I can contribute.

Oil house

I recall a PRR oil house at a local yard and it was on the lead to the roundhouse of which to this day I have never been able to find a photo.  Having it along the turntable lead makes sense.  It would depend on your era whether there would be "road" to the oil house since the oil probably came in drums as LCL but then in later years it was likely delivered by truck.

I concur Barry.

It is just a cardboard stand in for now.

I'm thinking of a CNR structure like this:

Your assistance is a breath of fresh air.

Robert, your reply brings to

Robert, your reply brings to mind Trevor Marshall's section house and oil house on his nineteen fifties layout which is situated between his runaround track and turntable track, but with no road or path to it. (I just learned what LCL means).

Trevor's layout

inspired the track plan for my layout

My layout depicts a coastal branch line terminus in the boonies during the mid fifities. I still have a lot of work to do on it; primarily detailing and finishing touches.

I'm leaning towards a structure like Trevor's oil shed.
