Hi! This week I´ve been working to find a realistic, easy routine with low cost material to model Aspen trees.
I hope you like it. Love you all and wish you a nice modelling weekend!

Thank you for the great

Thank you for the great video. I've made some wire trunk trees but you have some good info I hadn't thought of. The extra 'V's of wire to thicken branches is very helpful.

I'll have to find the leaf material; been using ground foam with WS blended turf sprinked on top.

The only thing I would change is Aspens have smooth white bark with black knot holes, very distinctive. And of course the fall color is a very bright yellow.  Model them in groves, the roots spread and start new trees near by forming dense forests.

They really look great!

If you continue this way with all your great tutorials you should setup a library

Duct tape turns a NO into a Hm-hm.

Realistic Aspen Trees

Had never considered using only four strands of wire as tree base. Your process creates very natural looking trunks and branches. Cannot wait to try your tree building method. Thanks for sharing .

American Aspen vs Euroasian Aspen trees

Hi Bill!

Thank you for the positive comment! I explain the difference between American Aspen and Euroasian aspen trees in the beginning of the video tutorial. Maybe you skipped through that part. Nevertheless a video tutorial for the tree you posted a picture of, namely the american aspen, which in turn is very close to European Birch tree will be published in the coming 10-12 months. The reason for not starting with it is that the paintwork of the trunk is a whole lot more demanding than the Euroasian aspen.

All the best!

My bad Martin t, I watched

My bad Martin t, I watched but without sound (wiil have to hook up speakers to this XP box). The tree form is very good and should be easy to covert to a quaking aspen.

Euro Aspen

Hi Martin,

Very interesting tutorial and as usual very well done ! The idea of replacing spray glue for 'wall paper glue' is indeed something to try out.

In france these spray glues cost a fortune and are hard to find.  So thank you very much for showing this alternative!

All the best & greetings,

filip

aspen

I'm happy you included photo of real reall aspen. The trunks seemed too dark but with work they can be lighter. Great article☺
