No this is not HO. This is an 0n30 2-6-6-2, that i picked up at a train show one month ago. i know that my first post said something about Conrail, but i've tossing around the idea of doing 0 scale narrow gauge for some time. It would also allow me to be able to scratchbuild more wooden structures, which i like doing. i also own 2 more 0n30 locos with a decent amount of rolling stock.

I think that On30 is a much-malligned yet fascinating gauge to model in. You can almost use HO track (and the radii for it) in most cases and most of the Bachmann stuff will negotiate track that On3 stuff might not.
Keep in mind, though they look great, the AMS and San Juan cars have On3 couplers (and the heights aren't exactly to On30) and aren't nearly as forgiving as Bachmann rolling stock is.
You have all the good aspects of O (such as details) except for the overly large rolling stock and lack of space.

On30 all aboard

Come on in, its a great gauge and scale. You'll have plenty of opportunity for making wood structures. If you haven't treated yourself to a geared loco consider it and enjoy watching your audience being fascinated by your Shay/Hiesler/Climax's motion as they trundle by. Also do go for sound, nothing beats having a simmering Shay/Hiesler/Climax dozing on a spur waiting for action with all the associated clanks and scrapings, to please the audience between trains

Welcome

I have been an ho'er and then as I got older I switched to O 2 rail.  Trying to find space for 2 rail O is almost impossible, ahh but ON30 is HO curves with O scale scenery and structures.  Also because of their size you don't need as many of anything, IE rail cars, engines, structures etc as you do in HO.  Anyhow, welcome, you'll gonna like it!     Russ

0n30 is fun

I have been messing around with 0n30 for several years basing my layout and stock on the D&RGW. I ignored the incorrect gauge but have incorporated 0n3 standards and it is fun. I am no expert on American RR's but thanks to the Net reseach is pretty easy, also you guys over that side of the pond are very friendly and helpful. It beats modeling British Standard Gauge in 'O' scale.
