Greetings All,

I cut my operations teeth on Eric Lundburg's well known Sandric and Lake Superior in the 1990s.  In the early 2000s Kathy and I started construction on the first version of the Castle Rock and Pacific (C.R.A.P.) which can be seen here:  http://www.craprail.com/.  That railroad was never finished but we enjoyed operations on it for almost a decade beginning in 2006.

Two years ago we moved ten miles away to a new home in Franktown, Colorado with a larger basement and ranch style living quarters overhead. Construction on v2.0 of the Castle Rock & Pacific began soon after the move.  Our blog on the construction of the new railroad can be seen here:   https://craprail.wordpress.com/.

In the new construction we corrected some faults discovered on the old design and made some operational changes like eliminating some bottlenecks and moving to visible staging.  I am quite sure that we have also made some new errors too.

The blog covers everythingfrom taking down the old railroad to room prep. and construction the the new C.R.A.P. including benchwork, terrain, track and electronics.  Scenery, structures and operations are still in the future but we are averaging 12 person hours a day moving toward completion - at least enough to start operations again.  I'm doing my best to keep the blog up to date.  You may find inspiration or something of interest there.

Quite and adventure!

For others I have embedded the link to CRAP one here http://craprail.com

and the new home for CRAP:  https://craprail.wordpress.com/

This is a linked image to the proposed lower level with back to back staging in the center. Not shown is the crew lounge on the upper right. Each square is 12” and the layout is HO. Quite an undertaking but version 2 seems to be progressing rapidly!

I look forward to following along.
