I recently purchased a Con-Cor EMD MP-15 (DC) locomotive.  The locomotive ran pretty well right out of the box but was rather noisy.  The documentation said that it was lubed at the factory but greasing it with LaBelle grease made a big difference in the running characteristics.

The only problem with this loco has been that the bottom of the power trucks were hanging up on the Kadee uncoupling ramps.  I tried fixing this by using my Dremel tool to grind away some of the bottom of the gear case. No joy as I did not want to grind through the plastic case.  The bad news is that the grinder slipped a little and ground away a spot on the flange on the wheels on two wheelsets.  The damaged flanges now catch the outside rail on curves and the loco derails.  So, I have two questions.

1.  The parts list that came with the loco indicates that only the complete power units are available.  Looking on the web, it is unclear whether Con-Cor is still in business, so where can I find parts for this loco?

2.  Failing to get parts from Con-Cor, is there a source for replacement wheelsets for this loco?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Con-cor MP15

The early runs of this model used a drive made by Kato.  Later drives are Chinese copies, but still with the same dimensions.  Certain parts used by Atlas will interchange account early models were also made by Kato.  Wheel sets are one of the parts that will fit between models without any issues.  This is based on the assumption that you are dealing with the HO scale model.  Hate to say, but it sounds like your truck was not assembled correctly and therefore was noisy and caught the Kadee ramps.  Try calling Con-cor directly for a replacement truck.

unique truck mount

Fishnmack is correct that the earlier Coc-Cor MP15s had Kato drives so many of the parts from Atlas diesels made by Kato will work. I think the current Chinese-made axles and wheels will work too. You might want new wheels to replace the traction tire wheels if your model has them. I found the tires caused the truck to twist and derail under any significant load. If you're using it to move 4 or 5 cars at most it will probably be fine. However, since the Con-Cor MP15 has an offset bolster you cannot simply swap the Con-Cor trucks for Atlas trucks. USE THAT LINK!

Con-Cor

Contacted Con-Cor today and they were more than helpful.  Their MP-15 was last produced in 2010, so they have only limited parts.  They are looking to see if they have any parts left over.

If I can't get parts from Con-Cor, where can I find the wheelsets that fit the Atlas MP-15?   Also, this loco seems like a good candidate for conversion to DCC.  Anyone have a decoder recommendation?  Has anyone installed sound in this loco?

MP-15

Just curious, were you able to find the parts to fix your model?  If not, the offer still stands.
