Cannon & Company parts compatibility This is a shot in the dark question (hoping someone here has had experience) in reference to Cannon & Company diesel parts working with Atlas diesel shells. Specifically are the Cannon radiator fans and dynamic brake fans a drop in fit or will I need to modify the shell of the Atlas GP38. I'm not impressed with the molding for the Atlas fans and would prefer the fine detail and etched screen of the Cannon part. Thank you, Shane

fans work fine on Atlas Geeps

It's the cab that doesn't mate to the Atlas body correctly. There's an error in the height of the Atlas "sub-base" which is battery and equipment boxes the cab sits on. If you want to use a Cannon cab on an Atlas GP38 or GP40 you have to use Cannon's sub-base kit as well. I don't know if this is also true on Atlas's GP38-2, GP39-2, or GP40-2, since they usea different cab. Scott Chatfield

Cannon fans vs P2k

It's the various Life-Like/Proto:2000 EMD shells that have holes that are a little too big for Cannon fans. A thin strip of plastic glued inside the rim helps greatly. I know Hi-Tech Details made adapter rings for use on the P2k SD45. I don't know if they fit the otger P2k EMDs. And don't assume the Walthers vetsions of the Proto EMDs have the same problem. They might. I haven't tested them, but I kniw Walthers has changed a lot of little things on the models. Scott Chatfield

Yes.

GP38AC-4.JPG Your specific question was not exactly answered. The Cannon fans fit the Atlas GP38 and GP40 perfectly and is a very big improvement. See the attached photo of my LV GP38AC that started with an undec unit.
