An old Lionel FA2 (ex-Union Pacific) that was stripped and repainted, and then had the life weathered out of it.

Here's a couple from my

Here's a couple from my proto-lanced "Kansas City & Gulf theme", circa early 1960s...

First up is RS-3 #269:

And here's one of EMD-repowered FA-1 #203 wearing one of the simplified paint schemes with a tatty and faded GP7 #412 in trail still wearing its well-worn original paint:

All fer now!

That brings up a good question. What happened to the Warren & Ouchita Valley? As I recall it was a paper railroad that the Rock used in its last year for accounting purposes. Scott Chatfield

From what I could find, The road actually existed and connected to The Rock Island at  Banks, AR.  around 1899

They were basically a lumber hauler that was owned by the stockholders of the Arkansas Lumber Company and the Southern Lumber Company, both of which have mills on the line.  One of their locomotives was a 10 wheeler.

In 1948, the Rock Island purchased the Warren and Ouachita Valley Railway and assigned a Rock Island Whitcomb  75DE12c #1013.

Proving not to have enough power,  the little Whitcomb was replaced with a Rock Island EMD SW-1 #539

I'm assuming they lasted to the end.

Smoke pots

You almost require a smoke unit to run an Alco.   But those are all great models guys.

I had high hopes that Stewart was going to produce some more Alco models, but, unfortunately, Stewart went the way of the Dodo.

Smoke

I was just about to mention the need for a smoke unit--preferably two of them, for an Alco, when you beat me to it.

I just got a new Alco in the mail today... it runs SO beautifully in DC... I can't wait until I can do DCC and sound for it (I have the decoder, but... it's too big)

Alco's on the Long Valley Railway

From time to time L&HR C420's numbers 26 and 29 along with L&HR caboose number 17, roam the rails of the Long Valley Industrial Railway.

Cheers,

And yet another RS3

Here is one my NP RS3s. Obviously one of my favorites. Maybe someday I'll learn how to weather these things!
