I have seen a flatcar a few times now that I just can't identify, it is a fairly clean freshly painted red and has a few small brackets sticking up about a foot from the bed but not all the way across less than 2ft. wide. Anyone know what this may be

That is my issue I have no

That is my issue I have no photos and have searched the internet I know they are lease cars and were seen on the BNSF line near chicago. They look like 50ft. cars or longer and are pretty plain other than the extra mountings, I can't think what they would hold only have seen 4 or at most in a mixed freight.

If they are red they might be

If they are red they might be Kasgro Car Works, a rebuilder located in New Castle PA.  They provide specialty, heavy duty flats of large loads.  Check out the  photos on : http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/

Mystery Flat

Maybe this? This is the first one Ive caught loaded. It appears that one pedestal is adjustable, so it can haul different length cars. I can't link for some reason?

Is THIS the flat car?  Like

Is THIS the flat car?  Like the garbage train?  (from New Jersey, the "Garbage State")

Sorry the photo is of a moving train at night with phone-camera... all that and under a covered deck  (what could go wrong?)  Because of a limited distance to subject, speed, time available, blocked sight lines... I only caught 1 end of the car... 4 containers fit end to end.

Norfolk Southern at Jersey City... Journal Square Station.

(Seems you got the answer before I completed the post!)

QUAXs are former autorack flats

The upper one was built in Canada, and the lower one was built by Pullman. Both are "low deck" designs that use 28" wheels. Gives you a little bit more head room to load the wrecked cars. Scott Chatfield
