Bachmann's Narrow Gauge Mallet even for HO Scale?
Sat, 2010-09-04 11:52 — hminky
We examine Bachmann's narrow gauge mallet and find uses for the loco other than On30 at:
www.55n3.org/locomotives/mallet/

The Mallet comes close to the plans of this 1906 Great Northern 2-6-6-2 in HO scale. Just needs new domes, cab fittings and the tender narrowed.
We also look at in other scales.

Bachmann 2-6-6-2
Yes, I was looking at a possible conversion to HO. Looks like it would work. Maybe someone will come out with a conversion kit, or Bachmann will make an HO version.
I did pick up the new Mantua 2-6-6-2 with tender. Nice loco. Out of the box it ran a little tight but loosened up. Valve gear is a little "heavy" looking compaired to the Bachmann loco. Maybe a little paint and weathering would take care of that.
