Your weathering looks fine.

Your weathering looks fine. It appears that your weathering depicts a locale that is quite dusty.

What railroad does your doodlebug belong to?

Weathering

General advice on weathering is go very light, look at actual equipment to notice the patterns.  Vary the colors.  I have found that Harbor Mist Grey, Mineral Brown and Black/dark Grey are good colors.  Dust goes lower, soot goes higher and water almost always run vertically.  Very little goes diagonally.

I'll bet that Shay looks good up that creek.............

...........LOL!!!

If it were mine I would add some rust streaks with a very fine brush using dry-brush technique.  I use burnt and raw sienna as well as burnt and raw umber in acrylic so you can wash off with water if you hurry.

Does the area you are

Does the area you are modeling have a lot of yellowish mud?  Thats what I"m seeing, especially in the first photo - the second one is more of a light brown dirt justing.  I tend to think of weathering more as a whiter shade of tan (D&RGW truck side frames in the desert) or dark blackish browns in faded layers.(in other environments).  It really depends on the environment.  If your following real color photo's, then you should be in the ball park.

A little off off the subject

Does the Doodlebug have sound? I’ve been looking for a gas engine sound decoder.
