I am very interested in building whimsical "critter" engines and rolling stock on a small layout, preferably HO gage.
The problem is, I cannot find where to purchase the small motor drive on a just two axle truck assembly on which to build. I would very much  appreciate any help and advice.
Happy new year to all.

Stanton

Tom,

Take a look at the Stanton Drive from NWSL (Northwest Short Line), pick your wheel size and wheelbase, motor included.  I have two of them, smooth runners.

EDIT: I was also going to recommend the Bull Ant from Hollywood Foundry but the owner has temporarily stopped accepting orders due to recovery from surgery.

Broadway track mobile

I am using the track mobile to scratch build a small plymouth diesel. The drive is removed from the detailed cab portion. It will look great but don’t expect any pulling power. Only one axle is powered and any hint of a grade will make it stall. It will move about 2-3 Free rolling freight cars. It is a nice compact drive.
