I have to admit that LEDs and the lighted building examples I have seen at Menard's are causing me to want to add some SMDs to my structures.

Where do I find plugs similar to the ones used by Woodland Scenics? I have seen them on other toys, etc., so I know they are out there, just can't find them.

connectors

Can't tell from the pic whether they are 0.100 or 0.156 or 2mm center types. If they are 2mm types, check this out:

http://www.jst-mfg.com/product/pdf/eng/eXH.pdf  They are available from Digikey:

If they are one of the other standard sizes, just search Digikey's site for them.

and of course eBay...

A search for " Micro JST 1.25mm 2-pin" on eBay yields a bunch of options.

You are better off buying prewired plugs.

The manual crimp tool for the JST connectors costs $1100.00 - that's not a typo - that's eleven hundred bucks.

Always looking to learn,

plugs

I just received a bunch of 2,4, and 6 pin 1.5 mm plugs. About 10-20 cents each. They have one side with wires and the receiver end looks like not too tough of a solder job. I ordered them so I could unplug the shell from the loco chassis in cases where the led's and speakers are in the shell for dcc installations. But they will also work fine for disconnects for lighted structures.

Kirkifer et al Can anyone

Kirkifer et al

Can anyone confirm what size those woodland Scenics “just plug” JST connectors are?  A number of sizes were referenced in this thread.  An interwebs search was inconclusive

Thx

Jeff

I'd look for servo extensions

... like servo extensions for model aircraft... (you will need to research the size).  To me (looking casually) that's what they look like.   An RC Hobby shop should carry them... still cheaper on the internet.

The advantage is you get 2 plugs pre-wired.... a 24" extension gives 2 -12" leads with plugs.  (or a 6 and an 18... an so on)

Peter
