I recently added to my home road rolling stock. A couple 40’ Accurail gondolas were completed after being set aside for some reason and then forgotten about until I ran across them looking for something else. Intermountain wheels and Kadee Whisker couplers replace the stock items. Homeroad decals are from Bill Brillinger, fellow member here: http://pdc.ca/rr/

I realized that there were no flatcars in the CY&P inventory. I found some of interest in the Tichy catalog, a 40’ 50 ton and a 50’ 50 ton. The 50 footer was a pretty simple build with some brake parts and riggin added. The 40 footer was a little mor complex, but not exceptionally time-consuming. I replaced the “K” style brake parts with ‘AB” items from Detail Associates to bring it into my era. Both received Buckeye 50 ton trucks from Tahoe Model Works.

Excellent

On the gondolas, super job showing restraint on the weathering; they are just rusty and battered enough without the anachronistic "melted with a soldering iron" look and without too much bright orange rust.

Thank you Chris

I didn't want them to look as if they belonged waiting for the scrapper's torch.  Just pretty well used.
