I was happy to see Lance Mindheim's article on smartphone photography up here. I've always liked his simplistic slant on the hobby with amazing results. I also picked up Model Railroader and Pelle Soesberg has a similar article...photographing your layout with an iphone (or Smartphone in my case). Awesome! Is it a cooincidence?

Smartphones, like mine, the LG G5, come with 2 cameras. The standard 16 megapixels, the wide angle 8.

I view the Rail photography site http://www.railpictures.ca everyday. Mostly for prototypical information. But i've always wanted to be involved and submit my photos although being more of a documentary photographer than a beautifully composed photo that is required for the site. And being in touch with the moderator, and terminally denied in the past submissions, these guys are sticklers for well composed photographs. Sunlight on subject, well cropped, not blurry, no train going away shots... But now with my G5.. I was finally accepted! Now I don't have to go buy an older Nikon D series camera with a smaller megapixel rate! And it's nice to know i can compose some nice shots of my railroad without breaking the bank.

So thank you Model Railroad Hobbyist for having Lance on and i'll be giving Pelle's article a good read.

And..I just finished painting the backdrop for my Ontario South Central with photo images to be added. Will post shortly.

Happy Railroading folks.

cheers,
Brad
