Adding an Animated Sign to the Western Auto Building

I have started to look at constructing the removable section for the access hatch in the Union Station engine facility.  One of the tasks is to designate some of the buildings that will be on top of the access hatch.  One very important building to add to this area is the Western Auto building with its large animated sign.  Even though this is an N-Scale layout, the animated sign is O-Scale but it appears to be about the right size since the picture of the real sign shows it to be very large (shown in the video).  The sign that was used is by Miller Engineering and it was glued to a 3-D printed frame.  The sign connection is through a narrow hole in the roof to the control board & battery pack. This sign and the others that are planned will all be connected to a system that powers up to 10 animated signs. I also have the “Union Station” and “REA Express” animated signs that will be added to those buildings in the future.

First Run of N-Scale Kato 2-8-2 with LokSound Installed

This video shows my N-Scale Kato 2-8-2 that was purchased in 1995.  It still ran like a sewing machine in DC so I felt that it was an excellent candidate for an upgrade to a DCC sound installation since I really love steam engines.  It now has a LokSound decoder installed (I did not do it).  I have given up doing decoder installs in N-Scale steam engines (diesels I still do) so I looked for someone that did quality work at a reasonable price. I found someone that did and had them do two installs for me, the first in a ConCor 4-6-4 and the second is the Kato 2-8-2 that is in this video. I am very pleased with both installs and wanted to share this one with everyone.
