gopernoper

Hello,

I just got something I've been chasing for a while. It's a rivarossi dreyfuss hudson. I'm still working towards obtaining all of the cars. While I was searching, I found several examples with the scullin disk drivers, but they had centipede tenders, and the engine and tender were of a darker color. I have never seen any photos or mention of these in this color, or with the centipede tender. Is this prototypical? I may look into this model as I like the drivers and the darker color. Thanks.

I thought my window was down, but I found out it was up when I put my head through it.

New York Central Streamlined Hundsons

Hi

The Rivarossi streamlined NYC Hudson:

did indeed have a prototype:

and its tender did ride on 6 wheel trucks but some models did have centipede tenders:

Please note the striping change on the tender. MTH produced 2 variations in HO:

MTH labeled this the 1938 paint scheme, and here:
mth1940.jpg
MTH labeled the 1940 paint scheme.

My recollection is that the blue stripe in the 1938 scheme may not be correct as pictured, although I think passenger cars did have a thin blue strpe for a period.
The streamlined Hudsons can also be found in pictures with non streamlined tenders at times, and also with parts of their streamlined skirts removed. There is an excellent book "Know thy Hudsons" by Thomas Gerbracht (2015) that provides an excellent detailed review of all the NYC Hudsons, and should answer all your questions.

'Hope this helps. Have fun!
Best regards,
