Hi everyone,

I am doing a BN patch job with renumbering on a GN Athearn RTR GP-35. It is similar to the one below. My question is what is a good match for the GN simplified green? It always looked more brown to me but I do have some red/green colorblindness. Is there a color out there? Do I have to mix my own? I do not have an airbrush and was looking to see if anyone had experience here on doing color matched patches. By the way, the color does not have to be perfectly matched, considering 5 years of heavy use and the fact that it is a patch job.

Thanks ahead of time.

GN Historical Society

Good question. I've got a similar project on the shelf (GP30 in 1/29). The GN historical society published some color matching cards in one of their magazines, but I don't know if anymore are available. I think the ratios are available, but not a color drift card like the NP historical society has. Here's the link to the GN color guide. http://www.gnrhs.org/rs28_page_8.htm According to the MRH painting guide, a Pullman Green match would be a direct "name match" but I think it would be a bit closer to the Coach Green. Maybe a 50/50 ratio? Craig
