I thought that it was time to take a track level ride around a large portion of the layout to look at it from the same level as my N-Scale residents. Over the past 4-5 months a lot of time has been spent moving and/or rearranging existing buildings around the layout from one town to the other (e.g., the lumberyard was moved from Jamestown to Michaelson in exchange for a chemical distributor) as well as 3-D printing buildings & background items for the Union Station area.

Great video.

I wish I knew someone with a GoPro or a camera like that I could borrow for a day to shoot something like this on my own layout. Maybe I could use my cell phone camera mounted on a flatcar, but it'd be a vertical video because there's not enough clearance for the cell to be horizontal...

I did the same thing....

I mounted a drone camera on a flat car, then added a small cell phone charger to it, then sent it around the layout...

Nick, I'm fully retired so I've got lots of time to think things through before doing (not that I haven't made a few mistakes along the way). It will get done eventually.....John

Panasonic Cube+

I was inspired by Rick and his Cube+ so bought one to "ride the rails". The drawback, of course is that it highlights everything that needs to done!

@Lee: PM me and I'll loan you mine for a few days. I'd love to see your layout from that pov.

People have solved this by mounting the cell phone horizontally but at an angle to the track centerline, using a mirror to capture the view ahead. See the following prior discussion.
