Testing in progress on the ONE MODEL RAILROAD CAR FORWARDING SYSTEM TO RULE THEM ALL!

First let me say “Thanks” to all of you model railroad operators out there who are running the software through it's paces. There are testers in Great Britain, Canada, and the US so STS is getting a good workout.

Three bugs have been reported so far but solutions for them have been found and implemented. If you have already downloaded the Windows version and not experienced any issue with repositioning empty cars, importing your car data from a spreadsheet, or trying to change the width of the paper when printing switchlists or other reports, you should still update those programs. The new versions are located in a folder named “Patches” which is located inside the main on-line repository. The Windows version can be found at this link:

We have encountered a few issues with the version for the Raspberry Pi single board computer that have to do with hardware and operating system version compatibility. Those problems are being worked out and a new SD card image should be posted to the Pi repository this weekend. The new image should work in both Pi 2's and Pi 3's. The Pi version can be found at this link:

The patches that fixed the three problems mentioned above have been incorporated into the most recent version available for Windows. They will be incorporated into the upcoming Raspberry Pi SD card image as well

For those of you who haven't tried STS out yet but might be interested in a computer-assisted traffic generator and freight car forwarding system that can be used stand-alone or in conjunction with many car-card/waybill systems, take a look at it. Go to one of the links listed above, browse through the user's guide and check out the demonstration railroad. STS is a web-based, multi-user system that is accessible from desktop PCs, laptop PCs, and mobile devices via your home computer network.

One more thing on STS...

I should add that for those of you who might be interested in trying out the Shipper-driven Traffic Simulator, here's a link to a previous post that does a little better job of describing it and there are also three links to some Youtube videos.

The first video covers how to set up the database, the second shows the first half of a wayfreight, and the third finishes up the job.
