My favorite rail fanning spots in Cali south to north are Fullerton depot, Cajon Pass, Tehachapi, Jack London square Oakland, Roseville yard, Donner pass, Portola rail museum, Feather River Canyon, and Dunsmuir. Usually lots of trains rolling by and pleasant surroundings......DaveB

Some Tourist Lines I've visited and enjoyed

Cass Scenic Railroad - ex-Logging Line

http://www.cassrailroad.com/

Western Maryland Scenic Railway - You start your trip at the actual Western Maryland Station in Cumberland, MD and follow the original Western Maryland ROW to Frostburg, MD riding around the world famous Helmstetter's Curve.

https://www.wmsr.com/

Strasburg Railroad - Not only is this a great tourist railroad, it's right across the street from the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania and right down the road from the National Toy Train Museum.

And While you are in the Strasburg Area, be sure to check out the Red Caboose Hotel
