To All: The Evansville & Indianapolis RR was incorporated in 1885 and was controlled by the Chicago & Eastern Illinois RR. and was nick named "The Link Line". By 1915 the road consisted if 133 miles of track. However, the operation was never a money maker, so in 1916 the C&EI sold the property and used their own route to Evansville, Indiana. At the same time the C&EI merged with the Evansville & Tere Haute RR. The E&I became the Chicago, Attica & Southern RR, but was never a profitable line. Today the trackage of the E&I/CA&S is abandoned. I applied the E&I "Heritage" Herald to the car. Herald art work and photo by Elvin Howland. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout.

Elvin,

Where do you find those old heralds? I like the "link Line" logo ! Can you show a close-up?

Heralds

monttrak: I find most of the Heralds on the internet by searching tools. This Link Line Herald was in a C&EI Historical Society publication. I make the art work Heralds by drawing them at least 100%-200%  larger than the final product so as being be able to draw them. Then I have them reduced on a printer for a proportional size to apply to a car. This size is usually 5/8" to 7/8" across. I do not have a close up of this particular herald, but I have posted blow ups of other herald on this blog previously. Click on the photo for a larger view. Yours, Elvin Howland/E.
