To All: The Richmond & Danville RR was a 5 foot gauge line formed in 1847, that ran between these two Virginia cities. At 140 miles it was a vital length to both sides during the Civil War. The road was folded into the Southern RR in 1886 and is now a part of Norfolk Southern. I painted, lettered and weathered this "What If" 50 foot boxcar to run on my layout. Herald art work and photo by Elvin Howland. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout.
