To All: The Florida Railroad was chartered in 1853 and was the first Florida railroad to connect the east and west coasts of Florida. It went from Fernandina (east coast) to Cedar Key (west coast). In 1872 it was renamed the Atlantic, Gulf & West India Transit Company and became, in the 20th century, part of Seaboard Air Line, then CSX. I painted, lettered and weathered this 40 foot "What If" boxcar in this pioneering Florida railroad. Photo by Elvin Howland. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout.
