This week's video looks at what to do when you've already done your static grass and it needs a revamp.

WWS are bringing out a new layering spray which will enable them to ship it to North America.

Love that price....

" $8.80 + $8.00 shipping

Admittedly it's a lot better than $74.33 + $4.49 shipping.

Perhaps it's not available here

I sort of noticed that at one UK website, the product was listed as not available for export.

For what it is

For what it is worth..Personally, I would not pay any of those prices for water based glue.( 250 ml or 8.45 oz)  ... They say:

  • Water Based Glue
  • Easy to spray pump
  • Spray directly onto Base grass
  • Layers can be built up in minutes

The same can be done with already existing water based glues that are less expensive... I don't rush to buy things just because some one else likes it, but when I do, I spend my hobby dollars wisely...(is there a meme for ths).

The same is true for high

The same is true for high priced "scenic glue" which nothing but watered down mat medium or white glue.  Make your own and save a great deal of money.

Tony the product you listed is not the same...

They make a pump spray available in the US for $15.00, which is not the same.  She's using the aerosol spray, which I haven't been able to find yet.

Bill... Well.....

Maybe , maybe not..and I did not list a product.Exactly what is in the product you speak of? Any way, the white glue mix has worked for me and many others. As I stated..personally I would not. the product you are speaking of comes to $1.97 an ounce. A gal of Elmers 50/50 mix comes to 6.3 cents per ounce. And I get the same results. So again, I will not use it..if anyone else want to, fine go at it. I will use the money I save and buy something in the MRH store

Substitute in the US?

What would a suitable substitute, available in the US, be?

Hairspray for layering

People on the Proto Layouts Yahoo Group have been using extra hold hairspray as a static grass layering adhesive with a lot of success. There have been a few examples of this that can be seen on Jason Klocke's CGW layout and and Clark Probst's M&StL layouts shown here in the past. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the aerosol layering product is a overpriced can of hairspray. If it isn't then hairspray is a viable second option.

Love your videos Kathy, keep them coming!

Hi All I have to admit I do

Hi All

I have to admit I do love this product but it isn't in the US yet.  I understand your surprise at the prices.  I regularly see the shipping price from the US to the UK exceeding the price of the actual product.  My Rapido RDC was $55 to ship.  That's not fun and especially when the whole lot including shipping gets hit with import duty of 20% plus a £13.50 charge.  It's not fun shipping across the Atlantic!

Somehow shipping from China on ebay always seems to be free....

WWS are coming out with a layering spray that will ship to the US so expect to see it soon.  It's acrylic and not a lacquer like hair spray and has no odour that I've noticed.

I have used dilute white glue before and this is a finer spray which is why I like it.

I would never use hair spray.  In my experience it just doesn't last.  Even when I have soaked leaves on trees, as soon as I move the diorama or over time, the leaves just fall off.  Now I don't touch the stuff but I understand others are very happy with it which just shows that there is never one way to do something.

Frustrating....

Based on Kathy's excellent video, I bought a bottle of the Peco layering spray which comes with a pump sprayer.  What a disappointing, non-performing piece of trash plastic. Or did I just get a bad one?

I substituted some high end trigger pump srayers but the result was the same as they clogged after two or three squeezes. This stuff seems very fluid just like water but it clogs the tube and nozzle assembly. And even immediate cleaning in very warm water does not remove it.

Is this stuff supposed to be diluted? The instructions on the bottle do not indicate this is the case.
