I am interested in purchasing a Accucraft AMS On3 C-16.  I have never read any reviews on this manufactures products and would like to get somee feed back on the product line, specifically the On3 C-16.

Comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,  David Karkoski

Tom Miller?

Charlie - does Tom Miller have any Accucraft F scale stuff? While it's not O scale, if it's Accucraft, that could be an indication ...

Accucraft Fn3

First off, Tom Miller models in Fn3, not On3 or On30 so the following is not guaranteed relevant.

That said, Tom reports that he has several Accucraft Fn3 locos and that they are better detailed and better running than his Berlyn K-36 and K-37 locos. Tom is a stickler for accuracy and detail.

AMS On3 C-16 - Tsunami install

I have a friends On3 C-16 Bumble Bee from AMS. There were 3 screws loose on the underside cover plate and when I tightened them up it caused the drivers to bind so some more work is needed. The springs on the journal / axle bearings are a bit too tight also.

The blind centre drivers did not contact the rail head so tractive pull is poor but this can be fixed.

I installed a Tsunami C-Class decoder in the smokebox and a 23mm High Bass speaker in the boiler just clear of the gear tower and facing backwards. The speaker is sealed around the outside diameter to the boiler.

Surface Mount Device (SMD) LEDs were installed and all the factory wiring removed. Just one wire from the tender and added wipers to all 4 left side drivers.

Here is a short video on my YT channel -

Added red SMD LED underneath set on firebox flicker, cab light is a SMD as are the headlight and class markers.
