News Flash! Unusual loco sighted on the Richlawn Railroad!
(Tongue in cheek) :-)
So, I saw this "extremely rare" L&N loco on ebay and I just had to have it! I knew that it is so rare that it never actually existed, although some double cabs were actually produced. I believe the "Janus" must be the name of the builder (basher). Whoever did the work did an o.k. job.
In any event it's a great conversation piece for my layout as it sits semi-hidden in the back of Matthews freight yard. Rivet counter proto types may scorn it, but we all need a little laugh now and then!

NSB Di3
Even here in Norway we have a few left of the NSB Di3 (Norwegian State Railroad, diesel class 3), build in Sweden by NOHAB. Read more on wikipedia.
Similar locos were used in Denemark, Belgium, Luxenburg and Hungary. And got different nicknames
As these engines retired, they spread into other countries, like Kosovo and even back to Sweden.
For some railfans here in Norway this is the only dieselengine :)
