Not Enough V&O
Wed, 2010-06-23 04:04 — betsy662
Someone lamented in the forum awhile back, that MRH wasn't doing enough about the V&O, of course over the years, the V&O has been well covered by the print media, especially back in the 1970's and 80's, and since that time even, Alan McClelland has rebuilt and subsequently torn it down, however, thats not the end of the story!
One of the online guys who is as big into "Trainz" as I am, recently did the V&O in Trainz TRS2004, its gone from HO scale, to V scale, and its not bad either, in this video, Cincysouthernrailway has captured the essence of the Virginian & Ohio very well, also you will notice that the video is made up mostly of screenprints, probably because CNSR doesn't have fraps and can't capture the video!

Very nice!
I am impressed. This is very well done but the inclusion of teh theme to Jurassic Park contributes to it in a way that just can't be beat.
I have everything I could find on the V&O including the book that was basically a compilation of the published articles that appeared in RMC back the mid 1970's abd you have brought back memories. Ithas also given me some reason toe do something on my own layout.
Thanks,

That is pretty cool. You can actually recognize some of the locations without the subtitles. Nicely done.

WOW, OH WOW the coolest thing I have seen in awhile
I like the V&O, Have you seen the Appalachian & Ohio in 2 rail O scale it would make a great conversion into V scale.

great slide show
The credits at the end are fantastic, even though some of them are old they are great to reuse. We have signs that the wit of John Armstrong has not left the hobby.
As of this morning, I
As of this morning, I downloaded it myself, as long as I was running Trainz Classics, that format wouldn't allow for me to do much in the way of downloaded routes, since many of the dependencies that wouldn't come with it, but which would already need to be installed in the program, just wouldn't be there, but since I now have TRS2006 working in Windows7, (finally), the legacy content is there, I will incude another entry to the blog later with a new video.
Music reminds me of...
The music reminds me of the theme to October Skies, set in WV. Maybe it's because I love that movie so much, but it seemed to fit this one very well. I'm a big fan of the V&O as well, and it's always nice to see more!
