Right on

Well done and well said. Your philosophy is right on. We all learn from our mistakes. Wouldn't it be boring if everything project we tackled would be a master piece? There would be no need for how-to videos then, would there?

Keep up your splendid videos.

They happen

Picked up an old Magnusion kit and having read an article about using markers to color with gave it a try. Looked good but the walls were sticky. They never did loose the sticky stuff. I eventually spread something else on there to add some grimy weathered look and the sticky disappeared. Inbettween the two steps though was a period of about 6 or 7 years.

Hehe

This certainly is much more familiar territory for me.  I have far too many stories to share of failing at modeling, but most have made me better at doing the same thing.  Admittedly, I've discovered also that some things are just beyond what I have the ability/patience to do.  And I think that's alright, too.

But the best thing about this video was when the Mini Kathys came on and one of my toy poodles started watching and then started howling along!

Me thinks "been there done that"

Love your videos.  Yes I a tried a new method of ballasting my track.  I wanted the track to look like it had been ballasted using cinders.  The commercial "cinders" all look to course, so I used cigarette ash......NEVER AGAIN.

You may have seen my posting/photo from the 22 July 2016 where my track turned a patina colour.

I may have to try this method and see if I can get styrene to look like tarnished brass/cooper.

Great comments

Thanks all

I do love the idea of Greg's green track...  but seriously, you've hit the nail on the head.  "Ok, that didn't work but what a cool effect.  I wonder if I could use it for this instead"  That's how so many great techniques are found
