Had a good laugh with my local shop owner over my disappointment that there was only 1 crossing signal in the package for $44 cdn. Why only one? Who has seen a crossing with only one signal? Buyer beware/caveat emptor of this product. Maybe others have learned the hard way too?

Walters also has a Crossing Signal Controller/detection circuit.. for $55 ea. Anyone know of any other options?

Musician's budget here.

cheers,

Brad

What was the stock number of the product?

Walthers products always have a item or stock number, usually 3 digits followed by a dash followed by another number - which is usually the manufacturers number for the product. So it would look like "932-0010" or similar.

Crossing controller

I used the grade crossing pro from  logic rail to control these and other crossing signals. Some crossings only have one cantaliver signal with a pedestal mount signal on the other side, maybe thats why they package them that way.

@Jeff

Walthers changed the stock number to A949-4331, the older version being A949-4330. This is the single lane product btw.

@Bob - Single Cantilever

Found one in Brantford, ON. Cantilever signal on one side of the tracks, gates and signals on the other and the centre median. Crude photo from street view:

So maybe for now i'll cheat it with the one until I can afford the other. Thanks!

OREGON LOGGING SUPPLY

Don't be surprised

Really nice crossing signals as you describe usually do cost around $40.00 EACH. I'm not sure why they are so expensive but there they are. I bought one (NJ I think) about 25-30 years ago and it cost $29.95. It's beautiful - but the more I look at it it seems oversize (S scale almost)   Still like it but too expensive to buy another one!

photo on backdrop?

I was thinking instead of buying another crossing signal, the tracks are close enough to the backdrop that I can just take a picture of the one I have, photoshop it and paste it on the backdrop on the other side of the tracks. There's always a work around without breaking the bank.
